Celebrated on third Monday of the new year, on January 18, America honors the lifework of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.—activist, humanitarian, leader of the U.S. civil rights movement and Nobel Peace Prize recipient. Dr. King was born on January 15, 1929.

Monday also marks the 26th anniversary of the day of service that commemorates Dr. King’s life and relentless commitment to building an inclusive world. The Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Service is an opportunity for people to learn about Dr. King and to serve in their communities to honor his legacy.

This year, and every year, it is important to reflect on Dr. King’s enormous contribution to society through his leadership and drive to achieve the American dream of justice, equality, and inclusion. His leadership included the promotion, organization, and participation of nonviolent civil disobedience and marches across the country with and for people of all races, nationalities, sexual orientation, and religions.

Even though tremendous progress has been made, we recognize there is more we can do to ensure that we each reflect the diversity of the world around us.

Welcome to this blog. In this series, we will reminisce about that we did not think we would ever miss before we got out; hopefully with a good dose of healthy humor. With tips, tricks and secrets to reintegrating back to the civilian workforce and with the proper mindset. And we welcome positive feedback from those of us who have already made the transition to the real world. xUSAmp is a group of determined veterans, allies and family members who have worked in corporate HR and specialize in preparing veterans and military spouses to transition to corporate America.
